We’re at the nine-year mark since the end of the One Child Policy, a brutal violation against reproductive rights of women in China that lasted more than 30 years. Tropopause lives in the shadow of this blood-stained policy and the commercialized adoption pipeline behind it.
Kai and Chloe, a young American couple, travel back to China for the first time since they were adopted as babies. Under the intervention of Buddhist deity Hariti, they unravel a morbid secret from their past.
